Resolve Trash2Cash (RT2C) is a women-led sustainable micro-enterprise that reimagines waste as a resource and as a tool for change.
Founded in 2011, RT2C works at the intersection of design, craft, and climate action, transforming discarded materials into refined lifestyle pieces for conscious, contemporary living.
For over twelve years, we have been repurposing waste paper, textiles, plastics, packaging, and organic residues into durable, thoughtfully designed products. By extending the life of materials otherwise destined for landfills, we reduce dependence on virgin resources while honouring the integrity of what already exists.
At RT2C, luxury is conscious.
It
lies in the quiet sophistication of reclaimed materials, in skilled hands that
understand patience and process, and in aesthetics that sit effortlessly within
elevated spaces. Our designs do not announce sustainability; they embody it,
seamlessly blending into homes and workplaces while carrying a deeper narrative
of climate responsibility and mindful consumption.
Beyond form and function, RT2C is built on social impact. We foster entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods for women and youth, creating pathways to financial independence through dignified, future-facing green enterprise.
What began as a project under South Asian Forum for Environment, over the last decade, has evolved into a leading MSME in the sustainability space. Today, we stand at the intersection of design, climate action, and inclusive growth, demonstrating that circular economy models can be both elegant and enduring.
Our CEO: Amrita Chatterjee
Working at the intersection of environmental urgency and social justice, she brings a leadership shaped by lived experience, community-led innovation, and long-term commitment.
As the driving force behind Resolve Trash2Cash for over a decade, Amrita Chatterjee has pioneered models that transform waste into dignified, sustainable livelihoods. Her work enables vulnerable women and youth to achieve financial independence while strengthening climate resilience, proving that inclusive leadership can shape both economic and environmental futures.
How We Work
Our products and services are guided by three interlinked frameworks for action:
• Responsible Waste Handling -
We
work with large volumes of waste, recovering and repurposing materials through
structured, ethical processes.
•
Environmentally Sound Resource Management -
Waste
is handled, processed, and transformed with care for both ecological and human
systems.
•
Cyclic Design Innovation -
Our
designs follow circular economy principles, ensuring longevity, reusability,
and minimal environmental impact by design.
Aligned with the global waste reduction vision introduced at COP27 Presidency, our work reflects the principles of Reduce, Recycle, Recover, and Repurpose. This approach enables a steady and compassionate route toward organised livelihoods for marginalised, unemployed women and youth, where environmental action and social equity move together.
Our Philosophy
We believe waste holds inherent value.
That luxury can be ethical.
From Local Action to Global
Recognition: The RT2C Journey
Resolve Trash2Cash began with a simple, local question: what if the things we throw away could rebuild lives?
What
started as a small, community-rooted initiative has grown into a globally
recognised model of women-led, circular innovation - without ever losing sight
of the people and places it came from.
RT2C
took shape on the ground, working closely with women from marginalized
communities, listening to their realities, and building solutions alongside
them. The early days were defined by experimentation: with materials like water
hyacinth and post-consumer waste, with new craft techniques, and with a
different way of thinking about waste - not as a burden, but as a shared
resource.
From
local workshops to thriving production spaces, RT2C evolved through practice,
patience, and purpose. Women who once faced economic insecurity became skilled
artisans and self-led entrepreneurs. Discarded materials found new form as
thoughtfully designed lifestyle products. Slowly, a local response to waste
became a living example of how sustainability and social justice can move
forward together.
As
the impact deepened, the world began to take notice. RT2C’s work gained
international recognition across platforms committed to climate action, gender
equity, and inclusive development. These global acknowledgements were not just
milestones; they were affirmations that locally rooted, women-led solutions can
shape global conversations on sustainability.
Yet,
despite international visibility, RT2C remains firmly grounded. Its strength
lies in its partnerships, including continued support from SAFE, and in its
commitment to building livelihoods that are stable, dignified, and long-term.
Growth has never meant scale at the cost of values. Every step forward has been
intentional.
Today,
Resolve Trash2Cash stands as a leading women-led MSME in circular design -
connecting local action to global impact. Each product carries this journey
within it: of communities transformed, waste reimagined, and women leading
change with quiet confidence.
From
neighbourhoods to international platforms, RT2C’s journey proves that when
change begins locally and is led with care, it can resonate far beyond borders.
Turning waste into artwork. Turning
women into entrepreneurs.
Founded by Amrita Chatterjee, Resolve Trash2Cash (RT2C) is a women-led social enterprise that reimagines waste as a resource for function and dignity. RT2C stands at the intersection of sustainability, design, and social justice. What began as a project in responsible waste management has evolved into a globally recognised model of circular design, women’s entrepreneurship, and community-led change.
At RT2C, discarded materials like water hyacinth, used textiles, fabric scraps, paper, and plastic are thoughtfully transformed into refined lifestyle products. Each piece is handcrafted by skilled women artisans who see potential where others see waste. The result? Products that carry purpose, aesthetics, and impact. Made to last and made to matter.
Women at the Center
Our artisans come from diverse and often marginalized backgrounds. Women who once lived on the edge of economic uncertainty, where even daily necessities were hard-won. Today, they are not beneficiaries; they are skilled professionals, co-creators, and entrepreneurs.
Through sustained work, hands-on training, and fair livelihood opportunities, these women gain more than income. They gain confidence, agency, and the ability to make choices for themselves and their families. For many, this is the first time their work is recognised, not as labour, but as craft - worthy of respect and fair value.
The women of RT2C rebuild their lives one product at a time. From paying for their children’s education to creating safer homes and dreaming of futures once thought impossible, their journeys are woven into every piece we create. What you hold in your hands is not just a product - it is a story of resilience, learning, and quiet transformation.
Leadership with Global Recognition
Under Amrita Chatterjee’s leadership, RT2C has earned international recognition for innovation in sustainability and gender equity - including accolades from the United Nations and global platforms supporting women-led change.
Honours from United Nations platforms to global women’s organisations reflect not individual success, but the strength of a collective vision led by women and shaped on the ground.
Crafting Livelihoods, Not Just Products
In India, livelihood means roti, kapda, aur makaan - the basics of life. At RT2C, livelihood means more. It means stability, pride in craft, and the freedom to dream. Every purchase directly supports women artisans as they rebuild their lives through skill, creativity, and collective strength.
Our work is strengthened through meaningful collaborations. Together, we support skill development, capacity building, and sustainable livelihoods for marginalized communities, ensuring that impact is long-term and deeply rooted.
Circular by Design. Ethical by Choice.
Working closely with SAFE, RT2C advances a dual mission: reducing environmental harm while uplifting communities. We practice the Art of Recycling - where waste is reinterpreted with care, intention, and design intelligence.
When you choose Resolve Trash2Cash, you choose products with a story of waste transformed, women empowered, and a planet cared for.
